Oak City Soccer is privileged to have a knowledgeable and passionate board of directors who oversee the operations and fundraising of our organization.
BOARD CHAIR- KATIE DOMBROWSKI
Katie is a communications and content marketing professional who has spent most of her career working in a variety of industries focused on strategic communications, public relations, copy-writing, and website management. She also provides social media, event, and marketing support to several local businesses in the Triangle area. When she isn’t working or volunteering, Katie can be found at a live music show, at home with her cat Minnie, or at any of Ashley Christensen’s downtown Raleigh restaurants.
Katie has a soft spot for soccer, as she grew up playing the sport—from elementary school until college at age 21. She graduated in 2005 from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in Communications Studies and a minor in Creative Writing.
BOARD VICE CHAIR- KEITH NELMS
Keith is a long time resident of NC, and Economics graduate of East Carolina University. Keith has many years in investment management and financial planning, as well as involvement with the Boys and Girls Club, United Way, and Hayes Barton Baptist Church. Keith says, "It has long been a passion of our family to help children in all aspects of life; education and literacy, poverty, healthcare and disabilities. Having two children on the autism spectrum has introduced us to an underserved area within childhood development. I look forward to being able to give back to such a worthwhile cause."
TREASURER- JUSTIN PLOTKIN
In his early years, Justin was a very active gymnast. In 1996, Justin replaced the love of gymnastics with community service work. During high school, Justin was a very active member of Habitat for Humanity and Key Club International. During his service years in Key Club, held office of Lt. Governor and District Treasurer for the Carolinas.
In College, Justin continued his love of service by joining Circle K. He held the office of Treasurer for the North Carolina State University Circle K. In 2000, Justin rekindled his passion for gymnastics and joined Apex Gymnastics as the head men's gymnastics coach. Justin has also spent time working with gymnasts and cheerleaders at Elite Cheer and Dance (East Raleigh) and developed a children's program (including some with with special needs) at All About Kids (Louisville, KY).
Justin is currently a Regional Sales Manager for Faro Technologies Inc and has been with the company more than 5 years. When not working, Justin enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids.
SECRETARY- BROOKE DALRYMPLE
Brooke earned her J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007 and her B.A. from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida in 2004. Brooke was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 2007 and is also admitted to practice in the federal district courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina. Brooke is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Wake County Bar Association, and the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys.
Brooke also served as Charter President of the Young Professionals Civitan of Raleigh group.
In her free time, Brooke enjoys hiking, running, playing with her dog Colby, and exploring the best foodie spots in the triangle.
Katie graduated with her Masters in Occupational Therapy from Winston Salem State University in 2013. Katie has worked as an OT with pediatrics in a psychiatric hospital and a private pediatric clinic specializing in sensory processing disorders. She has volunteered in pediatric settings including Easter Seals UCP Charlie Gaddy Children’s Center and the Children’s Center Public School of Forsyth County gaining invaluable experience working with children of all ages.
Katie has worked with community youth programs for 11 years focusing on life skills and social justice. She enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, playing kickball, hiking, and enjoying parks and festivals in the Raleigh area.
Lindsay has a background in psychology, and has worked with the Meredith Autism Program. Additionally, Lindsay has been a Special Education Teacher for twelve years. She has a deep love for children with special needs and feels very strongly that they not only deserve, but require, the same experiences and opportunities as a child without a disability. Lindsay has loved watching Oak City Soccer grow, and is thrilled to be a part of helping it to continue to grow!
Ashton graduated from Meredith College, and currently works as a children's coordinator for a local non-profit. Ashton has helped kids of all abilities by serving as a camp counselor, babysitting, and volunteering with local organizations. She fell in love with Oak City Soccer during her first season as a head coach, and wanted to find a way to do more with the program. Ashton was an intern with The Autism Society of NC in college, and has hoped to create more Autism awareness. She has a background working in events, fundraising, and non-profits, and is pumped to use that experience to help OCS grow!
Ashton is a soccer fanatic, playing from elementary school through college. She is excited to help children find the confidence in playing and growing through the beautiful sport of soccer. In her free time, she loves to travel, run or bike around Raleigh, explore local festivals, concerts, and restaurants.
